About Etherdox Photography

Photography started in earnest for me when I had my first baby and realized that I did not want to go to the mall to get pictures taken of her.  I had a nice camera and started to learn how to use it. 

I was happy with my baby pictures but I still had a lot to learn (and if you ask me now, I still spend as much time as possible learning new techniques, photoshop methods, lighting, poses, finding new locations, etc.)  I enrolled at New York Institute of Photography and earned my diploma, winning 2 merit awards for my portrait work in the process. 

I started taking pictures for friends and gradually developed my own business, specializing in child and family portraits taken on location.  So often I hear from people that they have had horrible experiences at mall photography studios or other large chains, where you have to entertain your children, keep them clean, and wait (and wait, and wait...) - and then try to have them smile happily for the camera.  After all that pain, they have forced smiles, a backdrop, lighting, and a pose exactly like everyone else who uses that chain, and they have to choose between the best of several bad poses to buy.

My portrait sessions are relaxed and easy going.  We can be outdoors or inside, casual or more formal, whatever your preference is.  I love environmental portraits taken of children or adults, where you can see how they really play or work.

You will always see proofs in color and in black and white, and I do many other special effects with your pictures on request.  Many of my customers love sepia tones.  Touch-ups are complimentary. 

I actually enjoy working with babies, children, and pets.  Sometimes it takes a little time, but I have always been able to create a comfortable atmosphere for children and families so you can see their real personalities shine through in their portraits.

I want you to love your portraits!  If you have concerns I will work with you to resolve them, even if that involves another portrait session. 

I have lots of ideas, and I'm always learning new things.  I love to see your ideas and work with you, either in the photo session or with Photoshop afterwards (if you like special effects), so that you have a priceless memory captured the way you want it.
