children's portraitsI love to work with children. I have three young children myself, so I know how to make them laugh, catch their attention, and how to make child photography fun. Formal, posed, photography - let's face it - doesn't capture children's personalities. I spend time with your child, and almost every time I will probably make a fool out of myself to get them to really laugh. Sometimes it takes some time for us to become friends, but it's worth it! I normally schedule an hour for children's sessions. Some children thrive on being outside - so pictures at the park, your back yard, or other outdoor locations are perfect! Some children have an easier time with fewer distractions, so studio portraits can be best. We can discuss this when you set up your appointment. I have a fun variety of backdrops and props, and I also have lots of ideas for great locations.
I charge my regular session fee and print prices for a child's portrait session. The session fee is due within one week of booking your session to reserve your time. At your session, we will schedule an appointment to view the finished portraits, usually one to two weeks later. I can bring my ipad to your home, you can come to me, or we can meet at the park, Flying Star, the library, or wherever works for you. Please have everyone present that you need to make purchasing decisions, because you will choose your prints and collections at that time, and the total payment will be due. I can post an online gallery for family and friends to view also, after your initial purchase is made. It is always possible for you or other family members to purchase additional prints.
Since one of my goals is to capture your child's true personality, I love it when people bring favorite toys, blankets, books, or any sort of prop that your child loves. It can be simple or elaborate. I want to tell your child's story!
A Day in the Life... Sometimes a one-hour portrait session just isn't enough! When time and change start to press heavily on you, you want to remember the details of your child's life. What they look like when they get up in the morning, how full they want their cereal bowl. Brushing their hair - do they run away from the spraybottle? And how many bows are smooshed together in their drawer? Their books, collections, favorite ways to spend time, hiding places, a fashion show of outfits, shoes, and dress-up. (Right now at our house we have an abundance of princess skirts, wands, and strangely assorted high heels - I want to remember it all!) If you book my "A Day in the Life" session, I will spend a morning or afternoon with you and your child, doing whatever they like best. Call it lifestyle photography or environmental portraiture - I'll capture 4 hours of the essence of childhood. Of course we can include some family portraits too, and you interacting with your child as well (that's the best part). Another really fun idea is to do this on your child's birthday - the perfect day to remember all the best details from. You will receive a DVD with the digital images and copyright permission, and a framed 10"x20" storyboard collage of your favorite pictures. You can upgrade to a gallery-wrapped canvas collage if you like. The session fee is $800. To include additional children, add $100 per child. You will receive one collage for each child. Sports I would love to come to your athlete's game and take great action pictures of them in motion! I have long lenses and a fast camera so I can capture the expressions you don't see from the sidelines. (Our funny discovery - my son for some reason has his tongue out a lot when playing soccer!) Not to mention those high and fast kicks, jumps, swings, and maybe even a goal! I charge my regular session fee to attend your child's game, and will take pictures of him or her before or after too. I also take "official" team and individual sports pictures, if you are a coach or would like me to talk to your coach. I have special prices for team/individual pictures - contact me for more information.
Birthday Club For "Baby Expressions" graduates, or any child 1 - 16 years old. Contact me with your child's birthday, and I will send you a gift certificate to be used towards his or her birthday portraits. Portraits need to be taken within his or her birthday month. For a toddler under 2 years old, you will receive 2 print credits, to be used for 2 sessions spaced out during their second year. Theme Days From time to time I will announce a theme day - antique portraits, fairy portraits, tea party portraits, princess portraits, down by the pond portraits, back-to-school portraits, etc. I have special packages and special pricing for these really fun days, and I offer referral incentives also.
